With the popularity of the new Fast & Furious films and the Barrett-Jackson Auto auction I figure it is time to explore the world of American Muscle cars. These cars are known for power and speed as well as, in today’s world, collectability.

Here I have compiled some of the most famous American muscle cars. My dream car is not some Lamborghini but one in this list. Pick yours  

1969 Chevy Camaro

With the meaner look of this car compared to the softer look of the years prior, this car was a high seller. You had your choice of either a big block or a small block V8 engine and that just depended on how much power you wanted.(Image Source)

1969 Dodge Charger

This car became extremely popular when the TV show the Dukes of Hazard first aired. You could seat 6 people in this big block V8 hemi engine power car and that was a rarity.(ImageSource)

1969 Dodge Challenger

With this car you could get a hardtop or a convertible version and either a road/track version or the luxury version. The typical engine was a slant 6, but you could upgrade to a V8 engine.(Image Source)

1969 Chevy Chevelle

1970 Ford Torino

This car was available as a four door model, unlike the other muscle cars of this generation. The rear doors opened backwards, which made it different from every other four door car available. They came with 360 horsepower V8 engines

Top 10 futuristic sports car design concepts

Car companies like Maserati and Porsche are well know for the sports car designs, butcompanies such as these often release concept cars – or prototypes – at motorshows before going into production. This way they can gauge consumer reactions to the designs before starting manufacturing.

These concepts give us a real glimpse of how cars may look in the future, creative designswhich push the boundaries in terms of technology and materials used, creating concepts which are imaginative and revolutionary.

Here we look at the top 10 most futuristic sports car design concepts and protypes:

1. Volkswagen Ego. Designed for the year 2028 the VW Ego is part of a trio of concept vehicles designed to offer a glimpse into the future for Volkswagen vehicles.

2. Renault DeZir. The deZir is an electric powered sports car concept which is set to go on show at the 2010 Paris Motor Show.

3. Maserati Birdcage. Unveiled at the 2005 Geneva Motorshow, The Birdcage is built on the Maserati MC12 chassis with carbon fibre bodywork and an aluminium and carbon fibre frame.

7. Honda FC Sport. A fuel cell powered car, unveiled at the 2008 Los Angeles Auto Show, the Honda FC Sport has a sleek aerodynamic design.

8. BMW Gina. The GINA stands for ‘Geometry In “N” Adaptions’. The ‘N’ stands for infinite. A stunning design with clever use of materials and technology.

9. Audi A9 Hybrid Sports Sedan. Designed by Spanish independent designer Daniel Garcia, this sports car concept has a low dynamic style.

10. Porsche 918 Spyder Concept. The 918 Spyder Concept is a hybrid powered two-seat sports car with a low-slung stance, buldging wheel arches and jumble of vents, intakes and grilles.
